Map the Giants crowdfunding has reached both goals

Map the Giants crowdfunding campaign is over and we have reached the first and second goals! A total of 15,592€ from 181 contributors! THANK YOU all for your generous support and the support of the University of Milano-Bicocca, BiUniCrowd, and Ideaginger. We’re truly blown away by your generosity. Our work has only just begun!

With your contributions, we have already planned a scientific expedition for May 2025 to discover and study giant coral colonies in the Maldives. We will soon start the selection of young researchers who will join us!

Your contributions will support:

• the purchase of 1 GPS
• the purchase of 2 Underwater lasers for measurements
• the purchase of 1 Camera + underwater housing
• the purchase of 1 drone to monitor the lowest coastal areas
• the maintenance of the project’s website
• the purchase of a high-definition 360° camera to create virtual underwater journeys for those who cannot directly observe this natural wonder: the giant corals.
• a scientific expedition for 4 people for 1 week
• two unique boat slots for the first scientific expedition, reserved for two young researchers to offer them the opportunity to learn in the field and develop skills alongside experts in the sector. One of the two positions will prioritize young Maldivian researchers
